We are Chicago based specialists who understand the root cause of why individuals struggle to learn using traditional methods. With have a deep understanding in the structure of the language that underlies reading.
Provide workshops on dyslexia, learning disabilities, phonemic awareness, language structure, multi-sensory instruction and accommodations/modifications for educators,paraprofessionals and parents.
Tutoring children and adults with reading, spelling, writing and processing deficits using multi sensory structured language methodologies. While we aim to ensure every child reaches their full potential academically, they are also taught to understand how they learn best. Understanding their unique learning style and needs empowers them to be self-advocates.

Dyslexia is a neurological condition caused by a different wiring of the brain. There is no cure for dyslexia and individuals with this condition must learn coping strategies. Research indicates that dyslexia has no relationship to intelligence. Individuals with dyslexia are neither more nor less intelligent than the general population. But some say the way individuals with dyslexia think can actually be an asset in achieving success.
15-20% of the population has a language-based learning disability. Of the students with specific learning disabilities receiving special education services, 70-80% have deficits in reading. Dyslexia is the most common cause of reading, writing and spelling difficulties. Dyslexia affects males and females nearly equally as well as, people from different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds nearly equally.
A diagnostic reading assessment is used to measure students' skills in each of the five components of reading: vocabulary, phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency and comprehension.

There are a variety of multisensory structured language programs. What makes these programs different is that they teach language structure in a systematic and cumulative way. Sounds, syllables, sentences, meaningful word parts and reading in context are taught and practiced in reading and writing. Constant review and repetition are part of each of these approaches.
Beware of the diagnosis of “developmental lag”. Research strongly suggests that most cases of reading failure do not spontaneously get better and children do not just catch up once they fall behind unless they receive intensive intervention. Most parents of children who have experienced reading problems regret waiting too long to get help.

Dyslexia is a lifelong condition. With proper help, many people with dyslexia can learn to read and write well. Early identification and treatment is the key to helping individuals with dyslexia achieve in school and in life. Most people with dyslexia need help from a teacher, tutor, or therapist specially trained in using multisensory, structured language approach.
It is important for these individuals to be taught by a systematic and explicit method that involves several senses (hearing, seeing, touching) at the same time. Many individuals with dyslexia need one-on-one help so that they can move forward at their own pace.
In addition, students with dyslexia often need a great deal of structured practice and immediate, corrective feedback to develop automatic word recognition skills.
